"Timely Management of Jaw Disorders
During Dental Treatment"

In this intensive introductory course, diagnosis-specific management of musculoskeletal disorders affecting the jaw will be presented through discussion, workshops and case presentations. Various risk management strategies before, during and after routine dental treatment will also be provided.

Special emphasis will be placed on the importance of establishing and maintaining a healthy, functional equilibrium between the musculoskeletal tissues of the masticatory system and the occlusion when complex dental procedures are being considered. The three-day course will be taught by two noted experts in the field:

Dr. Charles McNeill is a Professor of Clinical Dentistry and the Director of the Center for Orofacial Pain at the University of California, SF. He has authored many articles, abstracts and book chapters, edited four books and lectured extensively on the subjects of TMD, orofacial pain and occlusion. Patricia Rudd, P.T., Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Oral Maxillofacial Surgery, is the supervisor of Physical Therapy clinical and educational services for the Center for Orofacial Pain at the University of California, SF. Ms. Rudd has lectured nationally and internationally on Dental Ergonomics, Orofacial Pain, and the association between Orofacial Pain and Cervical Disorders.
